We took a 2 day one night tour of Halong Bay with Paloma cruises in February. After a long 4 hour drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay we boarded the boat. I was pleasantly surprised as the amenities were better than I had expected. The tour guide was absolutely fantastic and really encouraged everyone on the boat to interact and have a great time. It was up to the individual whether they joined in and mixed or preferred to stay to themselves. We had such a lot of fun and the guide was really knowledgeable about the various sites we encountered. I can remember his vietnamese name but he asked us to call hi Tim as it was easier. If you go on a Paloma cruise and you get Tim as a guide you are very lucky. All in all a brilliant experience which should be enjoyed by all visiting the Hanoi area.

We chose Paloma cruises as one of my friend had been on it before. We found it to be great value. We cruised on the 24th and 25th of May. We were picked up at our hotel in the old quarter and drove all the way to where the boat was docked. We boarded our junk and were served lunch while the boat started cruising. The food was yummy and the scenery amazing. The boat stopped in the afternoon to the caves which was a good excursion. We then went back to our boat. Usually thats when the chef would teach you to do spring rolls. Because it was christmas eve, it couldn happened as the chefs and staff were working hard on the dinner. They had organised a surprise party on the beach along with dancers, games and music. Food was plentiful and good. Note that you had to pay for drinks. . We had a fab time! Our guide was great and knowledgeable. Because we were leaving for Sapa the 25th, the team kindly kept our luggages in their office which was really amazing. Really recommended! |

Having traveled all over the world, this is special because it is so different. Sit back and relax, enjoy the scenery, all while you sail for a few hours to the caves. While the caves are ok, I can say they were the highlight of the day. On your way back to the junk look for the women in their boats selling fish to the locals. |

Reserved our trip on Paloma Cruise by Brilliant Halong Cruises agency was not disappointed. We had 2 days and 1 night in Halong Bay, the cruise visited tranquil Bai Tu Bay Long, too. We enjoyed the food and kayak, and our partner did like to take photos a lots, this cruise sailed to not much tourist area on the first day, so we could enjoyed a great & silent atmosphere in Bai Tu Bay, a chance to learn how to cook Viet local food by chef was a nice experience and got lots of funs. We enjoyed our cruise and would definitely recommend! |

We did an overnight cruise of Halong Bay with Paloma in the middle of January after having to change boats due to a problem with the tour group that we had originally booked with. It was a wonderful and not to be missed experience. Halong Bay is absolutely beautiful and we were extremely fortunate to have a sunny day to make it even more enjoyable. The tour guides and staff of the Paloma were wonderful and very professional. We were upgraded to a luxury cabin and because it was close to our wedding anniversary we were presented with a cake, a beautiful bunch of flowers, a free cocktail and a gift. The food was excellent - very tasty with a good variety of dishes. If we ever come again we would do two nights rather than one as there is so much to see and enjoy. The only negative is the very long drive from Hanoi and back. Thanks Paloma for a memorable experience! |

We were very pleased we took some advice from a friend and booked the 3 day, 2 night cruise-particulary bearing in mind the travelling the 4 hours from Hanoi. We booked the minibus through Paloma, which picked us up from our hotel-late. Not uncommon with the traffic in Hanoi apparently. Bus journey down there includes a break at a typical souvenir sales emporium, and I'm glad it wasn't any longer, as it was pretty cramped . Make sure you take your documentation as they stress on the booking-someone did not and had to travel the following day. Transfer out to the junk was on a small boat-and you are met with a warm greeting from the crew and cold towels. The cabin itself was compact, but nicely appointed in dark wood -unlike the outside of all these cruise junks that are now white. First day was a slow cruise out to the floating village-and the opportunity to take a small local boat for photos-well worth doing-and don't feel obliged to buy the conical hats placed on your head to keep the sun off. After that back to the mooring point for the overnight stop. The slight disappointment here is that you are not alone! It was like junk soup at the mooring stop. But with great food and a few drinks a good place to chill out on the upper deck. Second day for us was a transfer to a small junk for kayaking and beach day-absolutely brilliant-but we had good weather -the opportunity to kayak in and out of limestone caves and lagoons was brilliant. Final day was the "Amazing Cave"-say no more. Only niggles were western priced drinks-too expensive and lack of facilities-loungers etc. on the small junk -otherwise very enjoyable, if a bit too much "junk soup" at times. |

We were with 2 other couples simelar age group and we all enjoyed our 1 night and 2 half days on Halong Bay with Paloma. we were on the upper deck for cabins and they were very comfortable. The junk boat was lovely and the staff very helpful. Most of the food onboard was nice but some was not to our taste but respect the fact that they need to cater for different nationalities. Overall a great trip and one not to be missed. Make sure you are on a nice junk boat though. We were very glad that we had booked paloma. |
